Getting to São Paulo

Two airports, one enormous city

São Paulo is the gateway to Brazil, and for most visitors that means one of two airports. Knowing which one you're landing at makes the whole arrival simpler.

The two you'll use

• Guarulhos (GRU) — the big international airport, officially Governador André Franco Montoro, northeast of the city. Almost every intercontinental flight lands here. It's the one to plan around if you're flying in from abroad.
• Congonhas (CGH) — the close-in domestic airport, just south of the center. This is the home of the Rio air shuttle and most domestic hops. If you're arriving from elsewhere in Brazil, you may well land here — and you'll be near the Suite in well under an hour.

There's a distant third, Viracopos (VCP) near Campinas, about a hundred kilometres out, used by some budget and charter flights. If your ticket says VCP, budget extra time and plan a coach or transfer.

What you're aiming for

Whichever airport you land at, your target is the same: Centro / República, where the Suite sits on Praça da República. It's central, it's on two metrô lines, and it's an easy destination to give a driver or look up on the metrô map.

Land at GRU for international, CGH for domestic and Rio. Both lead to the same plaza.
