The Six-Screen Desk, and How to Use It

A wall of screens, and what to do with it

The desk is the reason a certain kind of guest books the Suite. Six monitors on a single curved run of lacquered mahogany, wired and waiting. Bring your machine; the connections are there. Here's how people actually use it.

Four layouts that work

• The trading floor. Charts and books across all six — a market on each screen, or one instrument broken into timeframes. It's the setup the desk was drawn for, and it looks the part against the skyline.
• The edit bay. Your timeline dead centre, the preview above it, and reference windows — script, notes, footage bins, a browser — filling the rest. Nothing hidden behind a tab.
• The call, plus everything else. One screen for the video call, five for the work you're talking about. Share one, keep five for yourself. Demos and pitches feel completely different when nothing is buried.
• The deep read. A document open wide, sources fanned out beside it, and a blank screen kept clear on purpose — room to think.

A few practical notes

• The emerald leather chair reclines properly. Use it; the best thinking here happens leaning back with the city in view.
• Work in the morning light or after dark under the brass lamps — both are kind to a long session.
• When you need to stop, the screens go dark and the room becomes a lounge. That switch, from command post to calm, is the point.

Six screens don't make you work more. They stop you losing the thread — which is a different, better thing.

Bring the team
